The West Bengal Pollution Control Board (WBPCB) has been awarded the Prithvi Award 2023 by the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Research Foundation. This New Delhi-based sustainability research and advocacy group recognized WBPCB for its efforts in regulating environmental degradation on a global scale.

In recent years, WBPCB has implemented various initiatives to reduce pollution and combat climate change. One notable accomplishment is the establishment of a comprehensive network for monitoring ambient air and noise levels in India. This initiative has significantly contributed to the improvement of air quality in the region.

Furthermore, WBPCB has taken measures to enhance the water quality of severely polluted river stretches in West Bengal. These regulatory actions have brought about positive changes in the water ecosystems and benefited the local communities.

Additionally, WBPCB has made significant strides in addressing pollution levels in six non-attainment cities in West Bengal. This commendable effort demonstrates WBPCB’s commitment to curbing pollution and creating a healthier environment for its residents.
